Elexon Electronics is a 100% Australian-owned and operated engineering developer specialising in the design, development and manufacture of a diverse range of high-tech electronics.
The company is located in Brendale, QLD, where their headquarters house cutting-edge technical capabilities to be at the forefront of advanced manufacturing for hi-tech products in Queensland. This includes manufacturing for the automotive, medical and mining industries, and more recently, Defence.
From humble beginnings in 2006, Elexon Electronics has established itself as a respected manufacturer of highly innovative and commercially successful products – with all design, prototyping and manufacturing completed in house.
Recent Queensland Government grant funding has enabled the company to increase its capabilities further and improve its world-class production facilities. The resulting amalgamation of unique expertise and state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment allows Elexon to participate in the most challenging and complex projects.
QDSA was fortunate to be invited to tour its manufacturing facility and meet with its owners and engineers in November 2021. This allowed Elexon to showcase its extensive capabilities to us.

The latest improvements underway at Elexon will not only result in enhanced capability and standards of excellence but also unrivalled efficiency. Elexon’s new Industry 4.0 manufacturing facility – where all parts of the process are connected and communicate – will completely overhaul its standards and capabilities.

Defence and Science at Elexon Electronics
In-house engineering and manufacturing have long been a key competitive advantage for Elexon. With a team of in-house design engineers, each new product results from a tight feedback loop geared toward continuous improvement. This also ensures faster prototype turnaround and time-to-market than alternative offshore production strategies. To keep business thriving in Queensland, Elexon needs its equipment to remain at the leading edge. Their goal is to always be at the forefront of technological advancement.
Elexon has unique IP that is owned across the whole Elexon Group that offers significant benefits if utilised by Defence. Blast-proof technologies, through-rock and underground monitoring systems, acoustic recognition and monitoring, RFID systems, battery power management are just some of these.
Elexon’s industry 4.0 manufacturing facility – the only one of its kind in Australia – was developed thanks to the contribution of the Australian Government. The facility further strengthens its sovereign industry capability and delivers robust manufacturing services for Australian defence projects.
QDSA and Elexon Electronics
Elexon Electronics is a very ambitious company. The development and manufacture of defence technologies are Elexon’s newest core activities leveraging their expertise gained over the past 15 years.
Many of Elexon’s technologies align with QDSA and Defence initiatives in terms of research and development, engineering projects, academia cooperation, and Australian industry support.
According to Sandra Simpson, Marketing Manager at Elexon Electronics, collaborating with QDSA offers Elexon support to navigate the complex Defence environment and identify projects and opportunities that capitalise on their capabilities.

Elexon Electronics also manufactures an all-inclusive range of acoustic monitoring equipment used by research scientists and consultants worldwide. Sister company Titley Scientific is the world’s second-largest producer of ultrasonic bat detectors used by biologists to detect bats and their movements better. These detectors are capable of recording birds, frogs, vocalising mammals, as well as ultrasonic bat echolocation.
